In December 2021, after successfully participating in a public tender, we were awarded the contract by the German Weather Service (DWD) to supply a total of 225 19-inch cabinets.
The delivery is to take place in several batches between 2023 and 2026, so that in the end all 182 full-time DWD stations in Germany will be equipped with our 19-inch cabinets.
We have already delivered 65 systems and the next batch for 2025 is already in production.
For further information on what our 19-inch cabinets are used for, here are excerpts from the official DWD description:
The DWD operates an extensive measuring network. One part of the measuring network is the ground measuring network. The ground measuring network in turn consists of various measurement data acquisition systems for the full-time and part-time measuring network. The existing measurement data acquisition components at full-time ground measuring stations are to be renewed in the next few years. The DWD operates full-time stations on the ground of the type Wst II (weather stations) and Fww (flight weather stations). The fully automatic weather stations are located on federally owned or rented properties and are currently equipped with an automatic meteorological data acquisition system of the type AMDA I/II. The systems currently in use consist of a central 19″ switch cabinet and corresponding junction boxes to which the sensors are connected. Each junction box is connected to the 19″ switch cabinet via a transmission medium. The DWD would like to replace the AMDA I/II systems used on the 182 full-time measuring fields with MODES H systems. In addition, there are a few additional stations, circulation systems and laboratory and test systems, so that the total number including prototypes amounts to 225 MODES-H systems.
